There is something that is unusually calm when deciding to sit down in an empty house with a paint brush in hand and listening to the sweet tunes of Eva Cassidy or Carol King. As cliche and dull as that sounds, its such an exciting thing for me when I come across a few moments, or hours that I have spare.

The ability to paint has been handed down the generations on my mothers side. Both my grandparents and my mum had/have exceptional talent when it comes to painting, and I am fortunate enough to have just a little bit of their ability. Growing up, I would sit in my mum’s art class (that she attended) and have a good hard crack at what they were doing, but it never really stuck. It wasn’t till recently that I decided to actually pick up a paint brush to create pieces of art work that I was actually pretty darn proud of. So hours turned into days where I would sit and paint till I found my rhythm. Kind of like music. And now, with the strong encouragement from my friends and family, I am creating pieces of art that people actually want to purchase from me. Say what?!

I like the motto, ‘Persistance pays’. Essentially it means - “just keep swimming” (Dory)
